Sharon Gutwin graduated from the University of Vermont in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She has practiced PT in a variety of settings, but most recently in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Her ideas of the RehabGYM have come from years of listening to what patients most want in physical rehabilitation. In addition to "reactive" care for injury and disease, Sharon promotes "proactive" care efforts to focus on keeping the body healthy and injury free.



Mary Steiger, PT

Mary Steiger graduated from St. Michaels College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Mary received her graduate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Mary has 27 years of experience in the practice of physical therapy and in management. Mary is also a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Vermont School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Mary resides in Williston with her two daughters. She enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.



Cathy Webster, PT

Cathy Webster earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1984. She has been involved in sports all of her life including alpine skiing, running, cycling and hiking. She currently remains active with her family which includes two young children and a new puppy. Cathy specializes in Rehab & Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and she has recently added a number of children with special needs to her caseload.

Jes is a Physical Therapist and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She received her Bachelors Degree in Biology from Dartmouth College and both her Masters and Clinical Doctorate Degrees in Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston. Jes enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, playing hockey, and fishing. She has a firm belief in the virtues of a sweaty brow and a hearty belly laugh.




Heather Gorman, PT, ATC

Heather Gorman is a physical therapist and a certified athletic trainer. She received her Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training and her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. Heather specializes in treating patients with back pain as she has trained in the McKenzie Method and utilizes manual therapy techniques. In her spare time Heather enjoys skiing, hiking and playing with her children.




Jeff Look, PT

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy at the University of Vermont in 1999. Since then, he has worked in a variety of settings. Jeff has spent a majority of his career working with injured workers and helping safely return them to the workforce. He has been involved with completing onsite risk assessments, onsite office assessments, and functional capacity evaluations. In addition, he has acted as the sole PT at an employee-only physician office at a local business. Outside of the clinic, Jeff spends his time mountain biking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, and woodworking.

Colleen is a graduate of Quinnipiac College in Connecticut and has been practicing physical therapy since 1999. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and carries an interest in foot alignment and casting for orthoses. You can find Colleen and her husband outdoors road cycling, hiking, running, or alpine and telemark skiing at Mad River Glen.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at Northeastern University in 1998 and is currently enrolled in the Clinical Doctorate of Physical therapy program at the University of St. Augustine. She enjoys snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking and traveling.

Tori graduated from the University of Vermont in May 2008 with a Clinical Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. She has a special interest in utilizing the aquatic environment for treating a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Outside the clinic, Tori enjoys skiing, pilates, training for and competing in triathlons, and spending time with her husband Leigh and their dog Playa.




Deb Harris, PT, RD

Deb is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist in the Casley-Smith Technique and a member of the Lymphedema Association of North America. She has Bachelors Degrees in General Dietetics (1992) and Physical Therapy (1998) from the University of Vermont. She has worked in a variety of settings with her primary focus in outpatient orthopedics, lymphedema care and treatment, postural restoration, and Women's Health and Fitness. Deb is very active with her husband and three daughters. She enjoys coaching basketball, gardening, and spending time with her horse out on the trail.


Edie Bernhardt, PT

Edie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1974. General training in all facets of therapy led to a specific focus in aquatic rehabilitation, culminating with earning a national certification in 1999. This, and her experiences on the staff at Shake-a-Leg-Newport, led her to pursue advanced skills with soft tissue management of pain and dysfunction with an associates degree in body work and massage at CCV in 2002 and then with extensive training with John Barnes’ approach to myofascial release. She enjoys all patient populations but likes the challenge of teaching people how they can facilitate their own healing. She enjoys being outside cycling, kayaking, and snowshoeing. Edie also likes the creativity allowed with sewing, gardening and other domestic stuff.



Joel Desautels, PT, ATC

Joel received his Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training at Castleton State College in 1998 and his Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware. He then spent time in Arizona working primarily with sports and orthopedic related injuries, which continues to be his main area of interest. After 5 years in AZ, he returned to VT and is excited to be part of the RehabGYM team. Joel enjoys being active with outdoor activities including running and hiking. Most of his time outside the clinic is spent enjoying family time with his wife Jenn and son Gabe.

Maria is a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer who graduated in 1989 from the University of Vermont. She has worked in local sports medicine clinics for the past 15 years. She spent the past nine years at the University of Vermont in the Sports Therapy clinic and has experience in treating the college population and performing biomechanical assessments for custom orthotics. She spends her free time running, traveling, cooking, and attending the sporting events and music concerts of her three children. She is an avid UVM Hockey Fan.

Erin graduated from the University of Vermont with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. Erin also received her bachelors degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences from UVM in 2007. Erin has an interest in aquatic physical therapy, orthopedic sports rehabiliation, and working with patients with neurological conditions. In her spare time Erin enjoys spending time outside with her dog Molly and the company of her family and friends.

Meg attended Springfield College in Massachusetts where she completed her master’s degree in Physical Therapy in May of 2009. She also completed her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training in May of 2007. Her clinical interests include orthopedic and sports physical therapy in addition to neurological rehabilitation. She enjoys being active by playing soccer, basketball, snowboarding and golfing, along with spending quality time with friends and family.

Emelia Parker, DPT

Emelia received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She began her medical career at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital as a general therapist, later focusing on breast cancer and acute care rehabilitation, which eventually resulted in two "Partners in Excellence" awards; a recognition of her exceptional work. Trained in the Burdenko method, Emelia practices both aquatic and traditional therapy techniques and now specializes in Myofascial Release in the John Barnes Method. Her holistic approach to patient health empowers her clients to reach their goals through shared ownership of their wellness and plan of care. Emelia recently returned to her home state of Vermont from Boston with her fiancé Tony. When not at work, Emelia enjoys spending time in nature, swimming, being a foodie and playing the piano.

Meghan Smith graduated from the University of New England in 2002 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Science and in 2003 a Master's degree in Physical Therapy. Meghan loves working with the pediatric population and has experience with children from birth to age 22. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including running, hiking, kayaking, and skiing. She also enjoys coaching gymnastic year round at Albert D. Lawton and Dunkley's Gymnastics Camp.

Britni Williams graduated from Northeastern University in May 2009 with a Clinical Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Britni has clinical experience working at Perkins School for the Blind, Fletcher Allen Health Care, and Riverside Early Intervention. Britni has a special interest in pediatrics and treating a variety of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal impairments as well as using the pool for aquatic therapy treatments. Outside of work, Britni enjoys being active with all of the outdoor activities Vermont has to offer and spending time with close friends and family.

Jackie Dempsey graduated from Worcester State College with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has five years of experience in working with children and adolescents with significant needs assisting them and their families with establishing and refining the skills needed to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life. When she's not working, Jackie enjoys being with friends and family, skiing, reading a good book at the beach, and hiking.

Aydan Crandall became interested in physical therapy as a result of injuries experienced during his athletic pursuits in college (football and powerlifting). Aydan graduated Boston University in 1998 with his Masters in PT and has worked in various places around New England. His hobbies include general fitness, hunting, & 'dabbling' in the martial arts. Aydan is currently pursuing an additional certification in manual therapy.

Lisa joins the RehabGYM team as a Physical Therapy Assistant, a 1994 graduate of Massassoit Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science. In addition to Physical Therapy skills, Lisa brings much teaching experience and talent in dance, yoga, pilates, aerobics, and running. Certified Yoga Ed. Instructor Feb 2007, Circus Yoga Level I Oct. 2006, Lisa regularly attends training in Therapeutic Yoga and provides private sessions with clients recovering from injuries or new to yoga. Lisa presently teaches yoga in the schools for kids of all ages and prenatal yoga.

Julie graduated from Lasell College in Newton, MA in 1998 with an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy, after which she began her career in Sports and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. Julie attended the Vermont Institute of Massage in October 1998 and became a Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworker in 1999. She recently passed the National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer exam (NASM-CPT) in April. Julie is also a Certified Strength Training Specialist through the International Weightlifting Association. Julie graduated from the online program at California University of Pennsylvania in May 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management with a concentration in Health and Fitness. Juilie enjoys spending time with her husband Josh, their two boys Caleb 4 and Caden 2, and their two Rotweillers Kass and Zeus. In her spare time, Julie also enjoys weightlifting, motorcycle riding, and coaching girls' basketball.

John completed his Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College in 2001. He has spent the past twelve years working as a certified Athletic Trainer in southeastern Massachusetts and now splits his time between Colchester High School and the RehabGYM's Colchester location.



Michael Landsberg, ATC, CSCS, PES

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont with a concentration in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology. Mike is a state licensed and nationally certified Athletic Trainer and he holds additional certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine, respectively. Mike is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Vermont Association of Athletic Trainers, where he served as president for four years and has been the legislative affairs chairman for 10 years. He specializes in shoulder injuries in the throwing athlete, performance enhancement through speed, agility, and quickness development, injury prevention, and working with athletes at Colchester High School. Mike's time away from work is spent running and hiking, golfing in the summer, and skiing and snowshoeing during the winter.



Keilani Lime

Keilani started hanging out at the RehabGYM with her dad when he was receiving physical therapy after a devastating car accident in 2005 that resulted in acute trauma. When he began rehab, Keilani's dad was wheelchair bound. With the help of the great staff at the RehabGYM, in no time at all he graduated to a walker, then a cane, and now he is once again able to walk on his own. Needless to say impressed, Keilani jumped at the opportunity to join the team at the RehabGYM. You can find her behind the computers at the front desk, and will do her best to help you get back on your feet just like the staff at the RehabGYM helped her dad do the same.

Mike joins the RehabGYM after spending over 25 years in the ski industry with many of those years being spent managing both the Ski/Ride School and Summer Camps. He enjoys many outdoor pursuits but his biggest enjoyment comes with spending time with his family recreating. He and his wife also enjoy chasing after all of both of his daughters' athletic and theatrical endeavors.

Rebecca graduated from William Smith College in 2006 with a major in mathematics and an interest in marketing and web design. She rowed for four years in college and is now involved in running and long distance triathlons. She also enjoys hiking, skiing, and cycling.





Becky Cross

Becky works at the RehabGYM twice a week to help make the equipment and facilities sparkling clean. Becky likes to be active and especially enjoys swimming and walking in her spare time. She swims competitively and participates in walkathon fundraising events. Becky also enjoys social gatherings and being involved in the community. She is involved in local theatre and also volunteers on a regular basis.





Brenda Ritchie

Brenda started at the Roosevelt RehabGYM in the fall of 2009 and has endeavored to keep it clean for all of us. In her spare time Brenda is currently taking educational classes. Brenda enjoys clothes shopping, watching western movies (especially those with John Wayne), and horseback riding. Brenda spends time loving Teddy, her part Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle.
