Cardiovascular Testing

Click to view a sample V02 Testing Summary and an Individualized Exercise Program

The RehabGYM offers cardiovascular testing with the iMett Cardiovascular Testing System. The iMett is a metabolic testing system that evaluates and monitors aerobic fitness by determining each individual’s anaerobic threshold and VO2. It is a submaximal test that can be performed on a treadmill or stationary bike.

The anaerobic threshold is the physiological point during exercise in which lactic acid starts to accumulate in the muscles. It occurs around the point of exercise intensity in which the body decreases its reliance on oxygen (aerobic processes) and shifts to increased reliance upon anaerobic processes to provide fuel. The anaerobic threshold has been shown to be a strong predictor of cardiovascular performance. The iMett runs anaerobic threshold and HR recovery information into periodization software designed by the head exercise physiologist at Athletes Performance Center in AZ. The software builds and prints precise, individualized daily workouts to improve cardiovascular capacity.

The body utilizes multiple energy systems to provide fuel during activity. The energy systems that are utilized at a given point depend upon the activity intensity and duration. The software produces programs that develop each of these systems to maximize potential and increase the overall cardiovascular performance of the client. The initial programs generated by the periodization software are focused on bringing the client to a high level of cardiovascular fitness. When a high level of fitness is achieved, the software provides sport-specific workouts.

iMett is utilized by the U.S. Navy Seals, Athletes Performance Centers in AZ and CA, professional hockey clubs including the Phoenix Coyotes, L. A. Kings, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks, as well as many other sports/training organizations.
