Sharon Gutwin, PT, Owner
Sharon Gutwin graduated from the University of Vermont in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She has practiced PT in a variety of settings, but most recently in Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Her ideas of the RehabGYM have come from years of listening to what patients most want in physical rehabilitation. In addition to “reactive” care for injury and disease, Sharon promotes “proactive” care efforts to focus on keeping the body healthy and injury free.
Susan Dodge, MS PT and Running Coach
Susan Dodge is a born and raised Vermonter who earned her bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the University of Vermont in 1982. She more recently earned her masters degree in health care administration from Marlboro College. Susan is an accomplished runner who loves health, fitness, science and helping others achieve their health and fitness goals. Susan’s primary areas of interest are treating overuse injuries and general orthopedics. Susan also performs Resting Metabolic Rate Testing and VO2 Max Testing in order to guide more personalized weight loss and training programs for her clients. Her mission is to use the science of performance testing to help individuals develop personalized plans to enhance their own health and wellness. Whether your goal is to lose weight and increase strength, to run your first 5k or your next marathon, training smart, not hard is the overall objective. Susan can often be found out running the trails around Chittenden County or cycling throughout the Green Mountain state.
Heather Gorman, PT, ATC
Heather Gorman is a physical therapist and a certified athletic trainer. She received her Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training and her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. Heather specializes in oncology rehabilitation. She is passionate in her belief of the need for Physical Therapy as part of the recovery process from cancer. Her focus is predominantly with the exercise portion of rehabilitation to improve strength, endurance and overall functional activity level. Her passion for oncology rehabilitation stems from her personal experience with her family members’ fight with the disease. Outside of work she is busy running her children to various sporting events, but during her free time enjoys hiking and being on the beach.
Colleen Bruns, PT, CSCS
Colleen is a graduate of Quinnipiac College in Connecticut and has been practicing physical therapy since 1999. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and carries an interest in foot alignment and casting for orthoses. You can find Colleen and her husband outdoors road cycling, hiking, running, or alpine and telemark skiing at Mad River Glen.
Michele Mannino, DPT
Michele is a physical therapist and certified personal trainer. She received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont. Michele has a special interest in sports rehabilitation. She enjoys running, soccer, snowboarding, hiking and camping, as well as spending time with family, friends and her dog Walter.
Caitlin Thornton, ATC
Caitlin Thornton graduated from Springfield College in 2012 where she worked closely with the Women’s Volleyball team as they traveled to the Elite 8. Her 20 years of dance experience and dance minor gives her a unique understanding of human body mechanics. Outside of work, she continues to dance on pointe, runs, and spends time with her new Corgi.
Susan comes to the RehabGYM after many years of customer service in health related fields. Susan was an x-ray technician until she became a stay-at-home mom to her three children. She taught fitness classes for over 20 years and the fitness / health industry remains a passion of hers to this day. Living in Williston, Susan enjoys do-it-yourself projects, gardening, and (most importantly) spending time with her family!
Rebecca Gutwin Coons
Rebecca graduated from William Smith College in 2006 with a major in mathematics and an interest in marketing and web design. She is now the Business Manager at the RehabGYM and handles all marketing, technological, and financial business functions. Rebecca rowed for four years in college and is now involved in running and long distance triathlons. She also enjoys hiking, skiing, and cycling.
Nickie comes to the RehabGYM after nearly ten years in restaurant management. She graduated from St. Michael’s College in 2003 with a degree in English Literature and is now attending prerequisite courses with the hopeful goal of a future in physical therapy. She is a certified yoga instructor and enjoys pottery and travel. She and her 4-year old son live in Burlington.
Brayden comes to the RehabGYM after graduating from the University of Vermont in 2013. He loves spending time outdoors being active. The best place to find him in the summer is out on the golf course or out on the trails going for a run.
Sean earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Vermont in 2008. His professional experience has focused on client support in various technical industries. This reflects his interest in computers and contributes to his success as Billing Specialist for The RehabGYM. Other interests include reading, online gaming, photography and traveling the world. Sean has a special interest in photographing European castles such as the majestic Neuschwanstein in Germany.
Cathy Webster, PT
Cathy Webster earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1984. She has been involved in sports all of her life including alpine skiing, running, cycling and hiking. She currently remains active with her family which includes two young children and a new puppy. Cathy specializes in Rehab & Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and she has recently added a number of children with special needs to her caseload.
Britni Myers, DPT
Britni graduated from Northeastern University in May 2009 with a Clinical Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. She has worked at the RehabGYM since graduating and has gained experience with both children and adults. Britni has a special interest in neurological and musculoskeletal impairements, aquatic therapy, and preventative care. Outside of work, she enjoys being active with all of the outdoor activities Vermont has to offer and spending time with close friends and family.
Ali Hamedani, DPT
Ali joins the team at the RehabGYM as a physical therapist. After completing his doctorate from the University of Vermont in 2009, he provided physical therapy for residents at a skilled nursing facility in Burlington and for students in the Montpelier public schools. Outside of work, Ali enjoys traveling, reading, and being active outdoors.
Sarah Homich, DPT
Sarah is a Maine native who graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2015 with her DPT. She received her undergraduate degree in Medical Biology from the University of New England in 2012, where she also played soccer. She enjoys working with all patient populations, and has a special interest in pediatrics, geriatrics, neuro, and preventative care. Outside of work, she enjoys running, hiking, swimming, exploring VT, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Sara St. Gelais, DPT, ATC
Sara was born and raised in Colchester, Vermont. She graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2009 with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She then continued her education at Quinnipiac and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in January 2013. While in graduate school, Sara had the opportunity to work full-time with Division One collegiate athletes as well as local high school students as an athletic trainer. She primarily spent time working with football, acrobatics and tumbling, and women’s rugby teams. Sara’s time away from work is spent outdoors running, hiking, kayaking, and camping.
Jill Fitz-Gerald, DPT
Jill is a native Vermonter and grew up in the small town of Monkton. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Exercise and Sports Science. Jill then continued her education at UVM and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. Jill has a special interest in pediatric and aquatic therapy. The best day in the physical therapy program was when Jill realized she could work with patients in the water as a part of their rehab. Jill swam competitively through high school, taught swim lessons, coached, life guarded, and is a certified scuba diver. Outside of work Jill loves to be in or on the water, playing with her dog, traveling,or spending time with family and friends.
Jeff Look, PT
Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont in 1999. Over the past 16 years, he has been able to gain experience in multiple areas of practice, those of which include: inpatient/acute care settings, outpatient orthopedics, industrial rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities and work as a traveling therapist. Most of his experience has been spent in outpatient orthopedics, which is where he likes to specialize. He is very active outside and he enjoys long distance running, mountain biking, skiing, camping and hiking. When he is not at work, you’ll probably find him on the trail with his fiance and two pups.
Kristina Marcussen, DPT
How did an Essex grad achieve the highest level in Redcord Training, a Neurac 3 Therapist? She followed in her grandmother’s footsteps – a physiotherapist in Norway in the 1940’s — and Redcord just happens to be Norwegian suspension training equipment. Kristina graduated from Bates with a French degree and went on to get her Doctoral of Physical Therapy from Northwestern in Chicago. Kristina has come home to Essex, and lives there with her husband, Dave, daughter, Sylvie and Corgi, Lucy. She enjoys skiing, hiking, dragonboating and good books. Laughter with whole body therapy is her main focus!
Mike Landsberg, ATC, CSCS, PES
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont with a concentration in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology. Mike is a state licensed and nationally certified Athletic Trainer and he holds additional certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine, respectively. Mike is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Vermont Association of Athletic Trainers, where he served as president for four years and has been the legislative affairs chairman for 18 years. He specializes in shoulder injuries in the throwing athlete, performance enhancement through speed, agility, and quickness development, injury prevention, and working with athletes at Colchester High School. Mike’s time away from work is spent with his wife, son and dog enjoying the outdoors with running, hiking, golf, skiing and snowshoeing.
John Burke, MS, ATC
John graduated from UMass Boston in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance and Fitness and a concentration in Athletic Training. John completed his Masters degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College in 2001. He has spent the past twelve years working as a certified Athletic Trainer in southeastern Massachusetts and now splits his time between Colchester High School and the RehabGYM’s Colchester location.
Eric Place, ATC
Eric graduated from the University of Vermont in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Athletic Training. He has been with The RehabGYM since the spring of 2008. Eric enjoys treating patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions as well as working with gym members to help them improve upon their current fitness level with a focus on weight loss. Away from work, Eric likes to play hockey, fish, hike, work on his growing mini farm and spend time with family and friends.
Amanda Bottiggi, Certified Personal Trainer
Amanda is a native Vermonter and nature/animal/food lover with extensive experience in helping people reach their best health. She graduated from UVM in 2011 with a degree in Nutrition & Food Science and is a certified Health Coach, Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Senior Fitness Specialist through the American Council on Exercise. She is also taking classes to complete a Masters program in health education from the University of Alabama. While she loves to work with a variety of members, Amanda has a particular interest in helping people maintain strength and mobility as they age. In her free time, you can find Amanda enjoying live music, reading a good book, and playing with Rocky, her rescue dog.
Lauren Kennedy, CSCS
Lauren graduated from the University of Vermont in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Movement Science. She grew up in Lunenburg, Massachusetts and has been competitively figure skating since the age of 5. In addition to figure skating, Lauren enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with her dog, Oscar. Lauren has a strong passion for fitness and wellness and plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy in the future.
Doug joins our team as an administrative assistant. As a former patient of physical therapy, he loves working with those who share his nascent commitment to fitness. Doug is a graduate of the University of Vermont and holds a Masters in Education. While teaching is his labor of love, he formerly made a living as a Jack-of-all-trades, which became the culprit of his injuries. A proud eighth-generation Vermonter, Doug resides in Essex Junction, where he and his wife are gifted with a sweeping view of the Green Mountains.
Patti is excited to once again be working with some old friends! She has spent the last 12 years gaining office experience in a physical therapy setting. This native Vermonter still loves the four seasons and enjoys it by walking, snowshoeing and skiing. Other times she can be found playing the piano, volunteering in her community or laughing with family and friends!
Brenda started at the Roosevelt RehabGYM in the fall of 2009 and has endeavored to keep it clean for all of us. In her spare time Brenda is currently taking educational classes. Brenda enjoys clothes shopping, watching western movies (especially those with John Wayne), and horseback riding. Brenda spends time loving Teddy, her part Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle.
Sarah Gregoire, DPT
Sarah graduated from Stony Brook University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010 after receiving her Bachelors degree in Psychology, with concentrations in Physical Therapy and Business, from Clarkson University in 2007. She has experience working in orthopedic and neurological physical therapy in both outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital settings, and she is a long time member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has been certified by the Neurodevelopmental Treatment Association specializing in stroke rehabilitation and is in the process of completing a manual therapy certification with emphasis on spine therapy. She is excited to be back home in Vermont and enjoys spending her free time with her family, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, running obstacle course races, or just enjoying the outdoors.
Maggie Heerdt, DPT
Maggie is a Montana native. She received her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from Montana State University then traveled far from home to receive her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New England. She now considers herself a New Englander. Maggie enjoys working with all patient populations and has a special interest in sports rehabilitation. Outside of the office she enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, playing soccer, and cuddling up with her niece and nephew.
Jacqueline Jancaitis, DPT
Jacqueline graduated from the University of New England with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2008. Originally from Vermont, Jacqueline has returned home after five years working in orthopedics in central Maine. Her interests include sports medicine, balance, and prosthetic rehabilitation and she remains active with the American Physical Therapy Association. If she’s not in the clinic, you might find her with her family hiking, biking or running.
Ken Stokes, DPT, OCS
Ken graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2009 and has worked in outpatient orthopedic clinics in Massachusetts prior to relocating to Vermont. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS). He has also completed courses in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Graston Technique, and Maitland manual therapy. He is a proponent of strength training for health, fitness, and injury rehab and prevention. He enjoys lifting weights, hiking, and watching movies.
Jason Carriveau, ATC, CSCS
Jason received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine from Norwich University with a concentration in Athletic Training and a minor in Biology. He is a state licensed and nationally certified Athletic Trainer. He holds additional certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, is certified as a Level One Selective Functional Movement Assessment provider, as well as certified in the Functional Movement Screen. Jason comes from Spaulding High School in Barre, VT where he was the Athletic Trainer for the two years prior to starting his career at the RehabGYM. He is a member of the Vermont Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sport, as well as a member of the Corporate Cup Race Committee. He specializes in movement based assessments, performance enhancement through creating effective movement patterns, injury prevention, and wellness outreach services to Vermont businesses. Jason spends his time outside of the RehabGYM with his family and friends just enjoying life!
Hendrik Reinold, ACSM Certified
Hendrik is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer who graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a BS in Exercise & Wellness in 2012, specializing in Geriatrics. He moved to Vermont in 2013 after having lived in Germany, Arizona, Chicago, and St. Louis. In his free time he enjoys running, lifting, and being outside with his wife Anna and their two dogs, Ben and Gorgeous.
Rebecca comes to the RehabGYM with 8 years administrative experience in both corporate and non-profit sectors. She graduated from Johnson State College in 2017 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and an Associates degree in Human Services. She is passionate about working with people, especially vulnerable populations, and coordinating services to provide improved quality of life. She spends her free time with her family in nature, laughing, and enjoying the beauty Vermont has to offer.
Ariel graduated from The Sawyer School in Hartford, CT specializing in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality and Hotel and Restaurant Management. A Vermont native, she moved back home to Vermont in 2000 to raise her family. She lives on Joe’s Pond in Cabot with her four children Ashton, Hannah, Olivia, and Lucas. With a desire to work closer with families in the community, she recently changed her career from administrative assistant of 9 years and feels blessed to finally be working in the medical field full time. Ariel works for Central VT Home Health Hospice, for the Rehab Gym in Barre, and as a CAPPA certified labor Doula for Central VT Hospital. Her doula work includes well and loss support. Ariel is the founder of Share’s Caring Hearts, a pregnancy and infant loss support group that services all Vermont hospitals and families as needed. In her spare time she enjoys time with her children including camping, hiking, biking, amusement parks, bonfires at home, or a quiet family night in.
Keri moved to Vermont 20 years ago after graduating from Woodsville High School in New Hampshire. She started working in the Administrative Medical field in a doctor’s office and transitioned to a local hospital where she gained further administrative experience. She now works as a Billing Specialist at the RehabGYM. Keri lives in Orange, VT with her husband, two children, and dog Nugget, and she enjoys traveling with her family, exploring the wonders of creation all around.
Katana works a couple days a week at the RehabGYM helping to make the facility presentable and clean for both patients and staff. Katana has been working at the RehabGYM for over a year now and has come to enjoy not only her job but those she works with. Katana is currently a Senior at Central Vermont Career Center doing Digital Media Arts. In her past time you can find Katana out taking pictures since her passion is Photography, especially of nature. Or she will be playing basketball or football with her brother.
Brandon woks in our Barre location to help keep our facility spotless! In his own words, “I like working out in the Gym, I work with really awesome and kindhearted people. I like WWE Wrestling which stands for World Wrestling Entertainment. My favorite WWE Superstar is The Undertaker. I always have such a great time at work cause I get to chat sometimes with really great people. I always share a great deal of laughs with everybody. I am just Blessed to be able to work with great people.”
